Excitements

I think "exciting" should be used in this form more often.

"Excitements" sounds sort of clandestine and vaguely Victorian, like "adornments" or "embellishments." I am actually looking for a specific word that is evading me, but I think it's crucial to share that I just googled "nouns that end in 'ment'" and found this list.  That is sort of an embarrassing confession, but it's worth it to be able to note that "enfeeblement" and "bamboozlement" are real words.  You learned something new today, didn't you?

Whatever.  I have several excitements going on in the next couple of days:

1) My friend Sara is coming over tonight so we can finally watch our DVR'd ABC Family movie "Desperately Seeking Santa."  We love hokey movies, Lifetime Channel movies, corny movies and cheesy movies.  Just think of anything in the so-bad-it's-good category, and it's right up our alley.  (To clarify - at risk of embarrassing us both in one fell swoop - think High School Musical.)  But who could resist this description?
A steely marketing executive gets more than she bargained for when her "Sexy Santa" contest winner turns out to be more than just a handsome face in the ABC Family original movie Desperately Seeking Santa.
2) Friday holds two excitements: a breakfast/coffee date with a friend (whose recent trip to North Carolina and Georgia I need to hear all about) and a possible Holidazzle parade viewing at night with Josh - assuming that the temperatures are somewhat pleasant tolerable reasonable do not cause enfeeblement.

3) Saturday is going to get a little crazy - doughnut crazy, that is.  Get this.  My running buddy Katie and I are going to run in the first annual Doughnut Day 25K.  This dude/local runner, Jordan, organized the fun run (per his website, "inspired by two of my favorite things, running and doughnuts"), and it includes four stops for donuts at local bakeries along the route.  Our running club is helping out with a water stop, which is how we found out about it.  I don't know if this is a terrible idea or the best idea in the world, but it sounds too fun to not give it a try to see.  I'm not up for the full 25K (15.5 miles), but Katie and I are going to do 9 or 10 miles of it.  A full report will probably follow over the weekend, assuming I am not too full of doughnuts to type.

I know at least a couple of readers have excitements in the form of a marathon this weekend!  What's shaping up for you in the near future?
