101 in 1,001: May update

Five months down!  I've got 13/101 complete and 16 items in progress.

We start, as usual, with an array of links:

The May progress report
Last month, I vowed to continue my ongoing projects (including discovering the magic known as salted nut roll bars for #82) and also:

#20 Eat five fruits and vegetables every day for 10 days
[Begin] #46 Eat or shop at 10 new-to-me local businesses in Minneapolis
[Begin] #92 Read five classic books
[Begin] #23 Visit the dentist at least four times.

HA!  The only thing I actually completed from this list was going to the dentist! Fancy that! (Cavity free!)  I really whiffed on the others.  Rest assured (as though you're worried) I was still reading and I did get close to my daily fruits and vegetables on most days - just not 10 consecutive ones.  I was also supposed to go a happy hour at a new restaurant in Minneapolis and the event got postponed to this week.  Looks like I'll be starting #46 in June instead of May - fingers crossed.

But luckily I did get some other stuff done on the list.  Chiefly, #12 Get a dog.

Even as we got closer, I was hesitant to put #12 on my list of goals for a given month in case it didn't pan out. (Also, it feels kind of funny to set a goal to get a dog sometime in the next 31 days.)

Anyway, as you all know, Wish is here.

The moment he discovered his reflection in the mirror
Wish's arrival was a little all-consuming this month, but he is helping with some other objectives, including the weekly walk goal. I realize now that the dog owners among my readers must have been rolling their eyes like crazy every time I chirped about managing to go for a walk once a week. I am blowing this resolution out of the water now. We're talking, like, 20 walks per week. Thanks, Wishy!  To stretch, I think I might start tracking the walk-instead-of-drive once per week goal instead.

This month is another full one, but it's unofficially (and almost officially) summer in Minnesota and that means conditions are good for getting out on the town and trying some new things.

This month, I will...
[Continue] #46 Shop at 10 new-to-me local businesses in Minneapolis
[Continue] #44 Eat at 10 local new-to-me restaurants
#25 Renew my passport: I filled out the application and got my new photos taken this week, so this one is almost in the books.
#15 Pick strawberries
#58 Increase my retirement savings

Now please share!
I have some ideas for my June goals, but have you dined or shopped anywhere fun lately and want to pass along the recommendation? Any passport destinations or strawberry farms to suggest?  If you're trying the 101 project, what were your successes in May?  Also, I should be clear that I'm definitely still tackling the mini-list of summer activities I dreamed up last month. This month, I expect to make popsicles, go on a waterslide and use the grill that we just bought!!

  1. Girlllll, don't even get me started on restaurants.
Here are a few you must go to, and I will join you for any - even though not many are "new to me."
Be'witched Sandwiches in the North Loop, you will love this place
    Red Stag Supperclub, NE
    Anchor Fish and Chips, NE
    Tanpopo Noodle Shop, St Paul
Birchwood Cafe, my hood (please tell me you've been before?!)
Oh, and here is one that would be new to me as well but I am hearing good things about: Masu in NE. A little Japanese place that is getting rave reviews for their ramen soup. This ain't no $1 ramen packaged crap either, Rebecca! -SJ

    1. Yahoo! Please take me to Anchor. I have been wanting to try it for ages. I have been to the others, I think, except for Masu, which I would also like to try. (And I wish going to Birchwood counted for the list, but alas, it's already a favorite.)

    3. Readers, don't mess around with this commenter. She is feisty and she means business!

SJ: "I think" means "way back." But I would like to amend my first comment because I was mixing up Be'witched with another sandwich shop. Please take me there, too!

  2. I believe there is a strawberry picking date in your own childhood backyard with a certain someone who you hung around with quite a bit in your childhood years! :)
